Sense based Gingerbread Arrives on Evo..... Finally

Today was a very good day for the many many Evo users out there. If you haven't heard on Thursday the Gingerbread Evo ROM was leaked to the masses. Assuming your rooted you may now be rocking Sense based Gingerbread. For a long time we have had to settle for the ASOP roms and not to take anything from Cyanogen and the many ASOP projects out there (most of which are based on Cyanogenmod)but in terms of wimax they have not been the most stable.
Cyanogenmod, since nightly 35 has come a long way in terms of wimax (4G) connection speed and stability but I must say its still a bit iffy. It's no secret to the people who know me that Android Creative Syndicate better known as ACS makes the best ROMS around in my opinion. It's because of these guys that I have so far preferred rocking Froyo to Gingerbread. That being said a testament to how great these guys are is the fact that the Evo Gingerbread leak has been out for barely a day and these guys already have a themed flashable version out there with Kings Sense 2.3 Evo.
I was very excited to be flashing this ROM and let me say I'm very happy with it. First off it's HTC Sense which s the best customization for Android period and despite the many customizations I know are coming via the boy's at ACS the vanilla sense look and feel of the leak was comforting. It runs wonderfully. The wimax is super stable and everything works as you would expect from a ROM that's basically just been themed. No major changes have been made to the UI as of yet.
So if your like me and you have been waiting a long time for Sense based Gingerbread then head on over to the XDA thread and download and flash this one. Don't forget to make a nandroid and protect your investment. You wont be sorry.

Why Asus Eeepad is about to shake things up!

The Asus Eeepad is one great tablet and we begin by noting the 400$ price tag. This in my mind is one of the things that touched off the whole Best Buy and Apple beef. Best Buy is making Android tablets a priority and this has made the folks in Cupertino a bit touchy. Yes I'm sold on the Eeepad if you can't tell.
Let's now talk specs. The Eeepad stands up to all comers in this department as well and with its super low price point it's a no brainer in my mind.
The Eeepad is dual core. It's rocking a Tegra 2 processor just like the Moto Xoom. Nuff said.
10.1 inch Gorilla glass display is a winner making it impervious to scratches and etc. It has the expected 1280 x 800 resolution.  1GB of RAM and comes packing a 16 GB sd card. The hinged keyboard dock, which is one of the major selling points will cost an extra 150$ but will still bring the price below most all of the tablets in its class.
Below you fill find a link to the first uboxing video for the tab. I'm simply awaiting the U.S. release to purchase mine and dev's have already accomplished a root though custom recoveries have not yet been accomplished. Rest assured it won't be long especially with the boys over at xda who have already given the tablet a dedicated thread. Check out the unboxing courtesy of the boys at Tech Crunch. Later kids.

Cyanogen Mod 7 released into the wild

Finally the release of CM 7

Team Douche has been hard at work on Cm7 releasing two release candidates within weeks of each other. Now i'm very excited to announce the release of Cm7.It's been a long road getting here and I've been right there with my Evo 4g every step of the way. For the longest Cm7 has been the best way to get Gingerbread on to my phone with wimax equipped. Its been a bumpy ride in terms of 4g. I had benched this rom beacause of the hiccups with 4g connectivity which is a deal breaker for me. Since the release of nightly 35 wimax has been working really well and it has been my daily ROM of choice. Anyway you can head on over to the Cyanogen mirror (now powered by TDRevolution) and get your flash on. As for me i'll be waiting for the CM Riptide rom to get this release as the base before I adopt it. Evo users (anyone else who wants) please comment on how this rom is going as im anxious to give it a try. It's been 4 months in the works and its finally here.

Nexus S 4g April 18

So the Nexus S 4g is coming to my favorite carrier according to the image above. Google's vanilla 2.3 Gingerbread phone is finally arriving nfc chip and all accept this time with wimax. This is a tempting proposition especially considering the phone is actually spanking some of the newer dual core phones In benchmark testing. I myself will be getting an Evo 3d but I think plenty people will opt for the pure Google phone despite HTC's groundbreaking offerings that are on the horizon. So I'll pose the question. Will you be getting a Nexus S 4g? Let me know in the comments.

Apple to ban Best Buy

So Cupertino is none to happy with the folks at Best Buy and my guess is it has something to do with the recent Asus Eeepad add the electronics retailer put out totally dissing the ipad 2. Also amidst rumors that Best Buy had been telling customers they were out of ipad's when they indeed had them in stock. Apparently Best Buy stores had a quota and when they reached it would attempt to sell other tablets in stock. So Apple's run of banning things continues. I think Apple is a little concerned about market share and companies like Asus just moved the goal post in terms of price with their 400$ Eeepad. Can't wait to see how this one turns out. A battle between the number one tablet maker and the number one electronics retailer.

Andy Rubin Promoted

Larry Page shakes things up

Larry Page has taken over for Eric Schmidt and we have been wondering what were some of the first changes he would make at Google. Well he has already begun to shake things up a bit as Andy Rubin, who was the head of the Android team, is now the VP and the head of mobile at Google. Google is trying to slim down the bureaucracy and Mr. Rubin will now report directly to Page. This a sign that Google understand the importance of Android and that the platform is a vital part of the Big g's plans in the near future.

The Future of Android seems bright

Recently on the Android Developers blog Rubin spoke out about the future of the platform and against the rumors that Google was closing the door and not releasing the Honeycomb source code in an attempt to fight fragmentation. With Rubin's reassurances it looks like the future of Android is bright. With his promotion his vision should be easily implemented and for me that means our beloved Android platform is headed in the right direction.
